For as long as I can remember, I have always been susceptible to the lure of semi-precious stones. Whether commemorating a birthday or symbolizing a special event, I delight over the magic these gems inspire. Look at these gorgeous stones.
My creations are all inspired. I have no pre-planned designs or sketches to work from. When the gems speak to me, I listen. The result of our collaboration is something I hope will not only enhance the wearer, but also serve as an intimate keepsake to be treasured for a lifetime.
I use a wide variety of materials in my handmade designer jewelry which I make available to a select clientele (who I lovingly call my “private collectors”). My gemstone earrings, bracelets and necklaces are all created with the utmost care in my studio using some of the most intriguing combinations of semi-precious stones and naturally occurring elements I can imagine.
Statement Pieces
Although I’ve designed many “traditional” pieces of jewelry an array of semi-precious stones and organic materials, the creation of a “statement collection” was an opportunity for me to express my fascination with larger than life neckwear and earrings trending today.
I am also attracted to the bold lively colors and audacious combinations. Often wild and eclectic, these playful creations almost force you to look at them.
As an added bonus for me, I have been inspired to incorporate some of the ethnic objects I own that were brought back from India, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
My intent with them is to create a collection of jewelry that will not only surprise and startle, but will remind you of the beauty to be found in ordinary everyday things from other cultures.
Big and bold creations made from chunks, chips and nuggets of gems such as jade, jasper, malachite, lapis lazuli and smoky quartz.
Some of the body wear I’ve been inspired to create have been a departure from my previous statement pieces which incorporated large, chunky pieces of semi-precious stones.
I’ve been guided to use smaller stones, glasses, crystals and organic materials during my play with focal points. All in keeping with my ultimate goal of creating one-of-a-kind jewelry that celebrates the imagination and the individuality of the wearer.
Incorporating Organic Materials
I have been pleasantly surprised by my most recent inspirations. While I continue to be completely in love with the infinite options working with semi-precious stones offers, I have tried to challenge myself by exploring a variety of colors, textures and shapes.
Many of my creations represent some of my fascination with the gifts that can be found in the sea. My inspired pieces for this collection were created from Turretella shells, sea urchin, nautica vitellus shells, heliacus variegatus shells, sea glass, cowrie shells, a myriad of pearls and more.
You can be assured that all of my creations are one-of-a-kind statement pieces. No two are alike. I welcome the opportunity to make custom pieces for weddings, celebrations and special events.
There are certainly infinite ways for artists to express and convey their interpretations of contemporary body wear. I feel that I have just scratched the surface.
